AP Government Releases ₹3,125 Crore to Farmers
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday reiterated his government’s commitment to farmer welfare, stating that the coalition government has fulfilled its promise of providing ₹20,000 annually to eligible farmer families. Addressing a public meeting at Linganguntla village in Chilakaluripet mandal of Palnadu district, he said farmers remain the backbone of the rural economy and assured continued support to strengthen the agricultural sector.
The Chief Minister announced that ₹3,125 crore had been directly credited to the bank accounts of 46.85 lakh farmer families as the first installment under the PM-Kisan–Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. Each beneficiary received ₹7,000, including ₹5,000 from the State Government and ₹2,000 under the Centre’s PM-Kisan scheme.
Naidu said nearly 99.8 percent of beneficiaries received the funds immediately through direct benefit transfer, highlighting improvements in payment systems. He noted that while farmers previously waited months for payments, the present government ensures payments are made within 48 hours.
Emphasizing sustainable agriculture, he urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He also promoted oil palm cultivation and highlighted Rayalaseema’s emergence as a horticulture hub. Earlier, Naidu virtually participated in the PM-Kisan fund release programme addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visited agricultural innovation stalls showcasing modern farming technologies.
