AP Forms Special Vigilance Team for Civil Supplies
The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a special vigilance team in the Civil Supplies Department to strengthen monitoring and improve transparency in the implementation of essential public distribution and welfare programmes across the state. A 12-member committee has been formed to conduct regular inspections and submit reports on any irregularities.
The vigilance team will closely monitor paddy procurement operations and the delivery of Custom Milled Rice (CMR) to ensure compliance with government guidelines. It has also been authorised to carry out surprise inspections at fair price shops, Public Distribution System (PDS) stock points, LPG agencies and petrol pumps to detect violations and ensure smooth functioning.
Apart from monitoring the supply chain, the committee will oversee the implementation of key welfare initiatives, including the Deepam-2 scheme, Anganwadi centres, government hostels and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Officials will verify whether the schemes are being implemented effectively and whether beneficiaries are receiving the intended services and supplies.
The team has been instructed to submit detailed reports on violations, irregularities or lapses to the state government for appropriate action. The initiative is aimed at enhancing accountability, preventing misuse of public resources and ensuring that food security and welfare schemes reach beneficiaries efficiently across Andhra Pradesh.
