Teachers Share Singapore Education Lessons

Teachers who visited Singapore on a study tour shared key lessons from the country's education system during a review meeting with Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh in Amaravati. They highlighted Singapore's merit-based school admissions, strong teacher mentoring, continuous training, and equal focus on academics, sports, and skill development.

Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh has already introduced value-based education and stressed that ethics and self-discipline are essential for meaningful reforms. He recalled the "Honour Code" system at Stanford University as an example of responsible learning.

Teachers also suggested adopting merit-based admissions, continuous assessments, and technology-driven teacher training. Lokesh assured that the recommendations would be examined through a dedicated mechanism before implementation. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to recognising outstanding teachers and called for greater participation by parents in the LEAP education app to strengthen education reforms.
