PM Urges States to Tackle Cybercrime
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed all State governments and Union Territories to take stringent measures to curb cybercrimes, particularly the growing threat of “digital arrest” scams. Chairing a video conference with Chief Secretaries and UT Administrators, Modi stressed the need for technology-driven solutions, stronger cyber policing and coordinated efforts to prevent online fraud.
He called for large-scale public awareness campaigns and urged States to strengthen e-FIR and Zero FIR systems for quicker action on cybercrime complaints. The Prime Minister also emphasized coordination among banks, police, the Reserve Bank of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs to trace and recover defrauded funds.
During the meeting, Modi reviewed progress on major infrastructure projects and the TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, urging States to intensify tuberculosis screening, diagnosis and community participation efforts. Senior Andhra Pradesh officials, including Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, participated in the review meeting.
