Kishan Reddy Urges Road Expansion Near Key Stations

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to expedite infrastructure improvements around Charlapally and Secunderabad railway stations to address rising passenger traffic and congestion.

Highlighting the growing pressure on Hyderabad’s railway network, he noted that the Charlapally terminal, developed at a cost of ₹430 crore and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2025, has significantly increased train operations and passenger movement. However, inadequate road infrastructure around the station is causing difficulties for commuters.

Kishan Reddy stressed the need to widen key approach roads, including expanding the FCI Godown Road to 200 feet and the Bharat Nagar access road to at least 100 feet. He also proposed widening the EC Nagar–MMTS platform stretch to nearly 100 meters. Additionally, he sought allocation of around five acres of land for parking and supporting facilities near the station.

The minister also highlighted the ongoing ₹715 crore redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station and called for widening the road from Alpha Hotel to Rathifile Bus Stand to 120 feet.

Despite multiple representations since 2022, he said progress has been slow. Urging swift action, Kishan Reddy emphasized that improved connectivity would ease congestion and strengthen Hyderabad’s urban transport infrastructure.
