A senior journalist was brutally murdered in broad daylight in V. Kota mandal of Chittoor district on Tuesday, triggering widespread outrage among media organisations across Andhra Pradesh. The victim, identified as Jagan Mohan Reddy, a journalist with Andhra Jyothy, was attacked with knives by two unidentified assailants around 7:00 AM on a public road.
The shocking incident has drawn strong condemnation, with journalist associations staging protests and demanding immediate arrest of the accused. They also called for stricter laws to ensure the safety and protection of media professionals.
Chittoor District Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi visited the crime scene and launched a detailed investigation. He instructed officials to gather evidence, review CCTV footage, and identify the attackers at the earliest. Four special police teams have been formed to trace the suspects.
According to preliminary reports, the murder may be linked to personal enmity related to a past ganja case, in which the victim had reportedly assisted one of the accused. Police believe the suspects are hiding nearby and assured that efforts are underway to arrest them soon.
Authorities have urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information while the investigation continues.
