Harish Rao Alleges Surveillance on BRS Leaders by State Government
Former minister T. Harish Rao on Tuesday made serious allegations against sections of the police department, claiming that leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were being subjected to illegal surveillance. He alleged that phones of party leaders were being tapped and CCTV cameras installed near their residences were being used to monitor their movements, reportedly under the direction of the ruling Congress government.
Addressing the media after meeting BRS leader Manne Krishank and others lodged in Sangareddy Central Jail, Harish Rao claimed that the Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad had been misused for surveillance activities. He further alleged that private hackers from Bengaluru were hired at significant cost to track opposition leaders. He said the party has collected evidence to support these claims.
Harish Rao stated that the BRS is closely monitoring the conduct of police officials and maintaining records of their actions. He warned that if the party returns to power, a detailed investigation would be launched and officials found guilty would face strict legal action, even after retirement.
He also accused certain officials of acting in favour of the ruling party and targeting opposition leaders who raise public issues, alleging misuse of authority to suppress dissent.
Criticising Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao said the government was focusing on luxury projects instead of governance and failing to fulfil key election promises. He added that the public is watching these developments closely and accountability would be ensured in the future.
