C.V. Anand Appointed as Telangana DGP

The Telangana government has appointed C.V. Anand as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. Official orders confirming his appointment were issued on Tuesday, following recommendations from the UPSC empanelment committee.

The decision comes ahead of the retirement of the current DGP K. Sivadhar Reddy on April 30, necessitating the selection of a new head for the state police force. The Union Public Service Commission recently submitted a panel of senior IPS officers eligible for the top post.

The panel included C.V. Anand from the 1991 batch, along with Vinayak Prabhakar Apte and Soumya Mishra, both from the 1994 batch. After reviewing the recommendations, the state government selected Anand, the senior-most officer among the shortlisted candidates.

C.V. Anand is known for his extensive experience in law enforcement and administrative roles across Telangana. Over his career, he has served in several key positions, contributing to policing, public safety, and urban administration. His leadership is expected to strengthen operational efficiency within the Telangana Police.
