₹5,400 Cr Solar Project Launched in Rambilli

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a major renewable energy project at Rambilli in Anakapalli district, marking a significant push towards green energy development in the state. The project, being set up by Renew Solar, involves an investment of ₹5,400 crore and will establish a 6.5 GW ingot-wafer manufacturing facility.Addressing a public meeting after the ceremony, the Chief Minister said Anakapalli district is rapidly emerging as a key industrial destination and will soon become one of the top investment hubs in the country. He expressed confidence that the region, due to its strategic proximity to Visakhapatnam, would witness large-scale industrial transformation in the coming years. He compared its potential growth to the development of Ranga Reddy district in Telangana.Naidu said the coalition government is focused on rebuilding Andhra Pradesh and restoring investor confidence after what he termed as a period of economic disruption. He highlighted recent industrial commitments, including the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel project, as evidence of renewed growth momentum in the state.He noted that international and domestic investors are increasingly showing interest in Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy sector. Referring to the Renew Solar project, he said the investment reflects strong confidence in the state’s policy environment and infrastructure readiness.The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh has set an ambitious target of achieving 160 GW of green energy capacity. He revealed that the state has already attracted investments worth ₹5.95 lakh crore in the renewable energy sector, with proposals and MoUs accounting for an additional 90 GW. He also said NTPC Green Energy alone is contributing ₹1.85 lakh crore in investments.Naidu added that solar and wind energy projects are already progressing in districts such as Anantapur and Kurnool, and the Rambilli facility will further strengthen the state’s position in green manufacturing.Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said electricity tariffs will not be increased. He also announced plans to promote electric mobility, including the introduction of 1,050 electric buses by APSRTC and the establishment of 5,000 EV charging stations across the state.He said Andhra Pradesh’s development strategy is centered on clean energy, industrial growth, and sustainable infrastructure, positioning the state as a national leader in the green energy sector.
