A sharp critique has been directed at former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, questioning his political strategy and approach as the state moves toward future elections.

The criticism centers on what observers describe as a repetitive political script. Analysts argue that while political strategies must evolve after setbacks, Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be continuing with the same approach that once worked but is now yielding diminishing returns. “If a strategy fails, it must be changed. Even young players in the IPL adapt quickly, but here the same script, same rhetoric, and same confrontational style continue,” the commentary noted.

There is also skepticism about relying on past success, particularly the sweeping mandate in 2019. Critics argue that voters may not be persuaded by the same tactics repeatedly. They point out that targeting opponents with sarcasm and personal attacks, including remarks aimed at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, may not resonate with the electorate anymore.

The handling of the Amaravati capital issue has also come under scrutiny. According to analysts, had the government continued development in Amaravati while simultaneously promoting decentralization, the public might have accepted the policy more readily. Instead, they allege that neglecting Amaravati created distrust among people.

Jagan’s political tone has also been questioned, particularly his consistent reference to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan without directly naming him in the past. Critics say such an attitude may not be effective in contemporary politics, where direct engagement and acknowledgment of opponents are often expected.

Further, analysts suggest that the opposition should focus more on governance issues under the current coalition government rather than attempting to counter its positive narratives. Key areas such as alleged corruption among legislators, sand mining irregularities, and liquor-related controversies are cited as issues that deserve greater attention.

The recent controversy involving Ambati Rambabu has also been flagged as damaging. Critics argue that the use of inappropriate language and subsequent justification could send negative signals to voters, potentially alienating undecided sections of the electorate.

Political observers warn that unless the YSR Congress Party leadership revises its strategy and tone, it risks further electoral setbacks. They emphasize that winning elections requires not only retaining existing supporters but also attracting new voters—something that may be difficult without a shift in approach.

Whether Jagan Mohan Reddy chooses to recalibrate his political strategy remains to be seen, but analysts believe that such a move could be crucial for the party’s future prospects.
