Kedarnath Yatra Temporarily Suspended
The Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended after landslides triggered by heavy rainfall disrupted the pilgrimage route in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. Authorities took the precautionary step to ensure the safety of pilgrims travelling to the Himalayan shrine.
According to officials, large rocks and debris fell onto the route following continuous rainfall, severely affecting transportation and blocking the movement of devotees. Several pilgrims were stranded as road connectivity was disrupted.
Disaster response teams and local authorities have launched clearance operations on a war footing to remove the debris and restore the route. Heavy machinery has been deployed at affected locations to reopen the road as quickly as possible.
Officials have advised pilgrims to remain alert and cooperate with the administration until the situation improves. They also urged travellers to avoid unnecessary movement in landslide-prone areas and follow official updates regarding the resumption of the pilgrimage.
The Kedarnath Yatra attracts thousands of devotees every year, especially during the pilgrimage season. Authorities are continuously monitoring weather conditions and the stability of the affected areas before allowing the yatra to resume. Further announcements regarding the reopening of the route will be made after safety inspections are completed.
