Sharmila Seeks Full Scheme Amount
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Y.S. Sharmila has urged the state government to implement the 'Thalliki Vandanam' scheme without any deductions and release the full ₹15,000 promised to eligible beneficiaries.
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced that the scheme's financial assistance will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible students' mothers on July 22. Under the current implementation, beneficiaries are expected to receive ₹13,000, with ₹2,000 being deducted towards school maintenance expenses.
Reacting to the government's announcement, Sharmila questioned the deduction and demanded that the entire amount be transferred to beneficiaries without any reduction. She said the scheme should be implemented in line with the promised financial assistance and argued that eligible families should receive the complete benefit.
The government has maintained that the deduction is intended to support school maintenance and infrastructure. However, Sharmila insisted that such expenses should not be adjusted from the financial assistance meant for students and their families.
The issue has sparked political debate, with discussions focusing on the implementation of the welfare scheme and the amount to be credited to beneficiaries under the current academic year.
