EC Revises AP SIR Schedule
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh following a request from the state government. The revised timeline is aimed at ensuring the smooth completion of voter verification and electoral roll preparation ahead of the upcoming elections.
According to the updated schedule, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been given time until July 24 to complete door-to-door verification of voters. The rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will also be completed by the same date.
The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, after which voters can submit claims and objections from July 31 to August 30. The Election Commission will examine and dispose of all claims and objections between July 31 and September 28. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 3.
The ECI has directed all election officials to strictly follow the revised schedule and ensure its effective implementation. It has also instructed authorities to give wide publicity to the revised timetable so that eligible voters are aware of the deadlines. Additionally, the Commission has asked officials to communicate the revised schedule in writing to all recognised political parties to facilitate transparency and smooth coordination during the electoral revision process.
