'Chavaa' Movie to Be Screened in Parliament Tomorrow

Biopic on Shambhaji Maharaj directed by Laxman Utekar

Film collected over ₹700 crore nationwide

Opposition plans to boycott screening, citing communal tensions

The historical film Chavaa, based on the life of Maratha warrior Shambhaji Maharaj, is set to be screened in Parliament on Thursday. Directed by Laxman Utekar and starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, the movie has been a massive box office success, grossing over ₹700 crore across multiple languages.

Reports suggest that MPs have been asked to attend the special screening. However, opposition parties have raised concerns, linking the film to recent communal tensions, including protests to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb and violence in Nagpur. Opposition MPs have alleged that screening a movie that has allegedly fueled such incidents is inappropriate in Parliament and are expected to boycott the event in protest.
