Hero Vijay's TVK Party Announces Protests Against Waqf Amendment Bill

Waqf Amendment Bill passed in Lok Sabha amid opposition criticism

TVK calls for statewide protests in Tamil Nadu tomorrow

Vijay urges district secretaries to ensure maximum public participation

Tamil superstar Vijay’s Tamilga Vetri Kalagam (TVK) party has announced statewide protests across Tamil Nadu tomorrow, demanding the withdrawal of the Wakf (Amendment) Bill-2025. The bill, passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday after extensive discussions, has drawn severe criticism from opposition parties.

The TVK party has unveiled plans to hold protests in all district centers, with Vijay instructing his party’s district secretaries to organize the events effectively to ensure maximum public participation. The Wakf Amendment Bill, which was passed by a vote of 288 in favor and 232 against, rejected all proposed amendments through a voice vote despite strong opposition.

While the NDA has defended the bill, claiming it aims to empower minorities, opposition parties have criticized it as 'anti-Muslim' and accused the government of undermining secular values.

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju argued that minorities are well-protected in India, stating, "There is no safer place in the world for minorities than India. Since the majority of people in India are completely secular, minorities are protected without any problems."

The protests called by Vijay’s TVK party are expected to draw significant attention across Tamil Nadu as the political battle over the Wakf Amendment Bill continues.
