iPhone Prices Set to Surge Due to Trump Tariffs, Experts Warn

Apple iPhone prices are expected to rise significantly in the wake of tariffs imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump on China, with experts predicting an increase of 30 to 40 percent. This comes as a direct consequence of the 34 percent tariffs on Chinese imports, which are set to impact Apple, a company that manufactures all of its iPhones in China.

Historically, Apple had received special exemptions to avoid paying additional taxes on its Chinese-made devices. However, with Trump's broader goal of pressuring American companies to move their manufacturing operations out of China, experts say that such exemptions are unlikely this time.

As a result, market analysts anticipate that the tariffs will lead to a sharp increase in iPhone prices. While Apple has not yet confirmed whether it will absorb the increased costs or pass them on to consumers, experts believe that the burden will likely fall on buyers.

For example, the iPhone 16, which currently costs $799 (around Rs. 68,000), could rise to as much as $1,142 (approximately Rs. 97,000) if the company shifts the cost burden to consumers. Meanwhile, the high-end iPhone 16 Pro Max (1 terabyte model) could see its price soar to an estimated $2,300 (roughly Rs. 2 lakh).

As the effects of these tariffs begin to take shape, consumers may face the impact of higher prices for the latest iPhone models, marking a significant shift in Apple's pricing strategy.
