Announces Rs. 400 crore allocation under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme for road development
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan launched the Adivasi Thalli Bata program with a powerful message on tribal welfare and forest preservation. Speaking at Pedapadu village of Potangi Panchayat in Dumbriguda mandal, he said, “If we trust the forest, it will give us sustenance… it will give us shade.” Highlighting the struggles faced by tribal communities, he pointed out that there are still villages in the agency area that rely on Doli (manual transport) due to the absence of motorable roads.
Pawan Kalyan criticized the previous government for neglecting infrastructure in tribal areas, stating that no serious steps were taken to provide road connectivity. He recalled that he personally met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at his residence and urged him to address this long-standing issue. “As soon as I requested, Rs. 49 crore were sanctioned for Manyam roads,” he said.
Going a step further, the Deputy CM announced that the government is now sanctioning Rs. 400 crore under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) for the construction of roads in tribal-dominated regions. He assured the public that the coalition government is committed to ensuring development with dignity for the Adivasi communities and will continue to prioritize connectivity, employment, and empowerment in the most remote corners of the state.
