Clinical KKR comprehensively beat CSK by 8 wickets
In a completely one-sided affair at Chepauk on Friday night, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put on a clinical performance to thrash Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter.
Batting first after being sent in, CSK collapsed to a disappointing 103/9, marking their lowest ever total at their fortress Chepauk. Only Shivam Dube (31 not out), Vijay Shankar (29), and Rahul Tripathi (16) offered any resistance, as the rest of the lineup crumbled against KKR’s disciplined bowling attack.
KKR’s veteran spinner Sunil Narine was the star with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 13 runs, dismantling CSK’s middle order. Harshit Rana (2/16) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/22) also chipped in with crucial wickets to maintain relentless pressure on the Super Kings.
In response, KKR made light work of the modest target. Chasing 104, they reached 107/2 in just 10.1 overs, sealing a dominating win. The victory not only strengthens KKR’s standing in the points table but also exposes worrying signs for CSK’s batting lineup, which looked out of sync throughout the innings.
With this win, KKR continue their strong run in the tournament, while CSK will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention.
