VVS Laxman Offers Prayers at Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple
Former Indian cricketer and National Cricket Academy (NCA) head coach VVS Laxman visited the sacred Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala on Friday, offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara. Clad in a traditional kurta-pyjama, Laxman was seen performing rituals at the revered hill shrine, drawing attention from devotees and fans alike.
The Sri Venkateswara Temple, situated in the Tirumala hills of Andhra Pradesh, is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It remains one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the country, drawing millions of devotees throughout the year.
Laxman’s spiritual visit comes after his recent coaching assignment at the Asian Games, where he guided an under-strength Indian cricket team to a memorable gold medal win against Afghanistan in a rain-affected final.
Known for his elegance on the field, VVS Laxman played 134 Tests for India, scoring 8,781 runs with 17 centuries and 56 fifties. His iconic knock of 281 against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001 remains etched in cricketing history. In ODIs, he played 86 matches and scored 2,338 runs, including six centuries.
Widely known as 'Very Very Special' Laxman, his calm demeanor, ability to rescue India from pressure situations, and his classic strokeplay have made him a beloved figure both on and off the field.
