“We Will Strip the Police and Beat Them”: Jagan’s Controversial Remarks in Raptadu
Jagan threatens police, vows to remove uniforms and jobs after YSRCP returns to power
Accuses TDP of terrorizing YSRCP cadre and misusing law enforcement
Criticizes CM Chandrababu for "dictatorial" governance and political vendettas
YCP Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy sparked controversy with his provocative statements during his visit to Raptadu constituency on tuesday. While consoling the family of Lingamayya, a recently murdered YSRCP worker, Jagan unleashed a sharp verbal attack on the state police and the ruling TDP government. He warned that once YSRCP regains power, police officers who "follow illegal orders" would be stripped of their uniforms and lose their jobs.
Accusing the police of colluding with the TDP to harass YSRCP leaders and cadres, Jagan alleged that law and order had collapsed in Andhra Pradesh. He said the Constitution is being replaced with a "Red Book rule" under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu, whom he described as acting like a dictator.
He cited recent local election results in Raptadu, stating that YSRCP won 39 out of 50 seats, demonstrating people’s continued support. Yet, he claimed, the ruling party is using the police to suppress the opposition and instill fear among his supporters.
Jagan also slammed the cases filed against YSRCP leaders and sympathizers, describing them as politically motivated. He alleged that 18 false cases were registered against actor Posani Krishna Murali, and that MP Nandigam Suresh was jailed for 145 days without justification. He further accused the police of falsely implicating Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy as part of a political conspiracy.
Reiterating his support for the Lingamayya family, Jagan vowed that such injustices would be avenged once YSRCP returns to power. His remarks, particularly the threat to “strip and beat” the police, have sparked widespread condemnation and are expected to intensify political tensions in the state.
