In a thrilling IPL encounter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni achieved a series of remarkable milestones. Known for his sharp wicketkeeping skills and finishing ability, Dhoni played a pivotal role in his team's victory, both behind the stumps and with the bat.
Dhoni’s 26 runs off just 11 balls earned him the Player of the Match (POTM) award, making him the oldest player in IPL history to win this accolade at 43 years and 281 days. He surpassed the previous record, held by Pravin Tambe, who was 43 years and 60 days old when he received the honor.
In addition to his batting success, Dhoni set several records in this match. He became the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to be involved in 200 dismissals, a feat that includes stumpings, run-outs, and catches. He also became the batter with the most innings (132) in which he has hit sixes, adding to his long list of achievements in the league.
Dhoni further solidified his legendary status by becoming the second player in IPL history to win the Player of the Match award the most times. With 18 POTM honors, he trails only Rohit Sharma, who leads the list with 19.
