Jagan's Remarks Spark Outrage Among Women Police: “Insult to All of Us,” Says Officer Bhavani
Female police officer Bhavani slams Jagan's statement, calls it an insult to women
“Are women not part of the police force?” she questions, demanding a public apology
Police Officers Association intensifies demand for immediate withdrawal of remarks
YSRCP Chief and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s controversial comments about “removing policemen’s clothes” have triggered widespread outrage, especially among women in the police force. During a media conference held in Vijayawada, female police officer Bhavani voiced strong condemnation and demanded an immediate retraction and apology from Jagan.
“Jagan’s words that he will remove all policemen’s clothes are not only derogatory but also deeply insulting to women officers,” said Bhavani. “Doesn’t Jagan know that there are women in the police department too? His statement is as good as saying he will strip women officers as well,” she added, visibly distressed.
The AP Police Officers Association, already angered by the remarks, echoed Bhavani’s sentiments and reiterated that such language is completely unacceptable from a former Chief Minister. “These comments have hurt the sentiments of women officers and dishonored the dignity of the entire police force,” said the association leadership.
Bhavani emphasized that public representatives, especially those who held top constitutional positions, must choose their words carefully. “How can people feel safe if leaders speak in this manner? This is not only an attack on the police, but also on the dignity of every woman officer who puts her life on the line for public service,” she stated.
She concluded by saying, “On behalf of every woman in uniform, I demand that Jagan withdraw these shameful comments immediately and issue a public apology. If not, we will not stay silent.”
The Association also warned of possible legal consequences if no apology is forthcoming. With the backlash growing stronger, Jagan finds himself under increasing pressure to clarify or retract his statement before the situation escalates further.
