Telangana’s per capita income (PCI) has risen by 9.6%, reaching ₹3,79,751 at current prices, significantly outpacing the national average of ₹2,05,579, which saw an 8.8% increase. At constant prices, the state’s PCI stands at ₹1,87,912, marking a 6.2% growth, compared to ₹1,14,705 at the national level.
However, income disparities persist across districts. Rangareddy leads with ₹10,55,913, followed by Hyderabad at ₹5,54,105, while Vikarabad and Kumuram Bheem districts report the lowest per capita incomes.
According to the Socio-Economic Outlook 2025, Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) recorded a 10.1% growth in 2024-25, exceeding the national GDP growth rate of 9.9%. Despite ranking 11th in geographical area and 12th in population, Telangana now contributes 4.9% to India’s GDP.
The tertiary sector, driven by IT and services, remains the state’s economic backbone, contributing 66.3% to the Gross State Value Added (GSVA) with an 11.9% growth rate, surpassing the national average of 10.7%. The secondary sector (manufacturing and industries) recorded 7.6% growth, while the primary sector (agriculture and allied activities) grew by 5.5%, contributing 17.3% to GSVA.
While Telangana’s economic trajectory remains strong, experts emphasize the need for inclusive development to reduce regional income inequalities and ensure balanced growth across all districts.
