Sunrisers Hyderabad Triumph Over Rajasthan Royals in High-Scoring Thriller

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad post a massive 286/6
  • Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten century powers SRH
  • Rajasthan Royals fall short by 44 runs despite a strong fight

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) began their IPL 2025 campaign with a commanding 44-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring clash at the Uppal Stadium.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, SRH set a record total of 286/6 in 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan starred with an unbeaten 106, while Travis Head (67), Heinrich Klaasen (34), Nitish Kumar Reddy (30), and Abhishek Sharma (24) played crucial cameos to accelerate the innings.

In response, Rajasthan Royals put up a valiant effort, scoring 242/6 in their chase of 287. At one stage, Sanju Samson (66 off 37 balls) and Dhruv Jurel (70 off 35 balls) built a strong 111-run partnership for the fourth wicket, reviving RR’s hopes. However, Harshal Patel dismissed Samson, while Adam Zampa took out Jurel, stalling their momentum.

Shimron Hetmyer (42 off 23 balls) and Shubham Dube (34* off 11 balls) fought hard in the death overs, but SRH bowlers held their nerve. Simarjeet Singh and Harshal Patel picked up two wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Adam Zampa claimed one each.

RR’s struggles began early as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (1) and Riyan Parag (4) failed to fire, with Nitish Rana managing only 11 runs. Adding to Rajasthan’s woes, Jofra Archer registered an unwanted record, conceding 76 runs in his four overs—the most expensive spell in IPL history.

Despite Rajasthan’s aggressive approach, timely wickets ensured a well-earned victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
