Sunrisers Fall Short as Pooran and Marsh Power Lucknow to Victory

Lucknow Supergiants won by 5 wickets

Pooran (70 off 26) and Marsh (52 off 31) devastated Sunrisers’ bowling attack

Lucknow chased 192 in just 16.1 overs

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who impressed in their opening match with a dominant batting display, stumbled in their second outing as Lucknow Supergiants cruised to a 5-wicket victory. Chasing 192, Lucknow completed the target in just 16.1 overs, thanks to a sensational partnership between Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh.

Sunrisers’ bowlers were left helpless as Pooran played an explosive knock, smashing 70 runs off just 26 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. At the other end, Marsh provided solid support, scoring 52 from 31 balls, including 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. Their 116-run stand for the second wicket all but sealed the game for Lucknow.

Despite Sunrisers skipper Pat Cummins striking twice in quick succession to dismiss both set batters, the damage had already been done. Even though Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant (15) and Ayush Badoni (5) fell cheaply, Abdul Samad (22* off 8) and David Miller (13*) finished the job comfortably.

For Sunrisers, Cummins was the most effective bowler, picking up 2 wickets, while Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, and Harshal Patel took a wicket each. Interestingly, Abdul Samad, who played for Sunrisers in previous seasons before being released, came back to haunt them with a crucial late cameo for Lucknow.
