World Chess Champion Dommaraju Gukesh revealed that he learned how to stay calm under pressure by observing former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Gukesh expressed admiration for Dhoni’s ability to remain composed during critical moments, stating that the cricket legend’s approach has greatly influenced his own career.
The young champion noted that he doesn’t react excessively to situations and can effectively handle pressure, a quality he attributes to Dhoni’s inspiration. “I learned how to stay calm under pressure from watching Dhoni. He doesn’t react too much to everything, and I try to follow that approach,” Gukesh explained.
Gukesh fondly recalled Dhoni’s memorable six in the 2011 World Cup final, describing it as a sweet memory for everyone. “The way Dhoni won the match by hitting a six in the final will always be remembered,” he added.
Meanwhile, Gukesh, who became the World Chess Champion last year by defeating Ding Liren, has earned the distinction of being the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to achieve this remarkable feat.
