‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ Under BRS Biggest Scam: Akbaruddin Owaisi

Owaisi demands a probe into alleged corruption in the scheme

Criticizes poor infrastructure in government schools

Calls for total liquor prohibition in Telangana

AIMIM legislative party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has alleged that the ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ scheme under the previous BRS government is the biggest scam in Telangana’s history. Speaking during discussions on education budget allocations, he claimed the program involved more corruption than even the Kaleshwaram project and demanded a thorough investigation by the Congress government.

Owaisi highlighted the poor state of government schools, revealing that 4,823 schools lack proper toilet facilities, including over 2,000 girls' schools. He questioned how the government could improve education without adequate funding and sought clarity on resource allocation.

Additionally, Owaisi called for a complete liquor prohibition in Telangana, criticizing the government for prioritizing liquor sales over public welfare. He accused the state of aggressively promoting alcohol consumption, which he claimed was harming families, especially women.

Expressing concerns about drug abuse, he alleged that pubs and bars have become drug distribution centers. He pointed out that Telangana has around 2,260 liquor shops, 1,330 bars and pubs, and over 8,300 toddy shops, in addition to illegal “belt shops.” Owaisi questioned why the state’s Excise and Prohibition department retained the term “prohibition” when liquor sales were being encouraged.

He reiterated AIMIM’s demand for total prohibition, stating that he was raising his voice on behalf of women across Telangana.
