Former SIB Chief Prabhakar Rao Moves High Court for Anticipatory Bail
Files anticipatory bail petition in phone tapping case
Claims to be undergoing treatment for cancer, lung infection in the US
Denies allegations of fleeing, says no evidence against him
Former Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) chief Prabhakar Rao has approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the phone tapping case. In his petition, he stated that he is currently in the United States for medical treatment and refuted claims that he fled to avoid investigation.
Prabhakar Rao mentioned that he is suffering from cancer and a lung infection, requiring specialized treatment abroad. He clarified that he had left for the US before being labeled as a fugitive and argued that the allegations against him were baseless.
“There is no evidence against me. It is unfair to portray me as a fugitive,” he asserted in his plea. The case has drawn significant attention, with authorities intensifying the probe into the alleged phone tapping activities. The High Court is expected to hear the petition soon.
