Sangeeta Sahu, also known as Geeta Sahu, a notorious figure in the illicit ganja trade, was arrested in Odisha by a special team from Telangana. Sahu is accused in multiple drug trafficking cases, including one at Secunderabad Railway Police Station and four cases in Dhoolpet, Telangana.

Sangeeta Sahu, who often portrays herself as a glamorous movie heroine on Instagram by posting videos, has been operating in the ganja trade for several years. She travels to high-consumption areas and brokers deals with ganja traders. Originally from Kalikot village in Kurtha district, Odisha, she has been involved in the wholesale supply of ganja across various states, leveraging Bhubaneswar’s proximity to connect with traders.

Her operations came under scrutiny after multiple arrests of ganja peddlers in Dhoolpet, where a substantial amount of marijuana—29 kg and 11.3 kg—was seized. Based on their confessions, police registered cases against Sangeeta Sahu. In 2022, she was arrested by Secunderabad Railway Police for attempting to transport ganja to Hyderabad by train.

A team led by STF officer Nandyala Anji Reddy traveled over 1,000 kilometers from Telangana to Odisha's Kalikot, where, with the help of local police, they successfully apprehended Sangeeta Sahu. The arrest was part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in the region.

Enforcement Director V. B. Kamalasan Reddy commended the arresting team, including SI Saidulu, Head Constable K. Sridhar, and Constables Mahesh, Arun, and Mangalu, for their successful operation in bringing the notorious drug dealer to justice.
