CM reviews summer action plan
Free buttermilk distribution to resume
Rs. 39 crore released to address water issues
With rising temperatures across the state, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to ensure that no region faces a drinking water shortage. Chairing a review meeting on the summer action plan at the Secretariat, he directed officials from the Disaster Management, Panchayat Raj, Municipal, and Health departments to take necessary precautions.
The CM emphasized early warnings about extreme heat and advised officials to alert the public via mobile notifications. He stressed the importance of setting up cold storage and buttermilk distribution centers at markets, bus stands, and labor camps, recalling a similar initiative implemented between 2014-19. He urged voluntary groups to come forward, with government departments providing necessary support.
Addressing the drinking water crisis in Rayalaseema and Prakasam district, Chandrababu Naidu ordered special measures, including the construction of 12,138 water tanks in villages at a cost of ₹35 crore to ensure water availability for cattle. He reminded officials that the coalition government is committed to public welfare and urged them to act accordingly.
The CM also approved ₹39 crore to resolve water shortages in municipalities. He suggested that villages construct farm ponds through NREGA and undertake pond desilting to improve water storage. Additionally, he directed that NREGA laborers be given extra working days in summer and be provided with water, ORS packets, and necessary facilities.
To prevent heat-related illnesses, municipal workers will not be assigned outdoor tasks between 12 PM and 4 PM. The CM also instructed hospitals to ensure adequate beds, doctors, and treatment facilities for sunstroke cases. Special efforts will be made for mosquito control in tribal areas to prevent disease outbreaks.
