Completes 400 T20 matches for India
Virat Kohli achieved multiple milestones in the opening match of IPL 2025 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. KKR posted 174/8 in 20 overs, but RCB comfortably chased the target in 16.2 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Kohli played a crucial knock, scoring 59 runs off 36 balls, including four fours and three sixes. With this, he completed 1000 runs against KKR, becoming the third batsman to achieve this feat after David Warner (1093) and Rohit Sharma (1070). Additionally, Kohli became the first player in IPL history to score 1000+ runs against four different teams—KKR, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
This match also marked Kohli’s 400th appearance in T20 cricket. He became the third Indian player to reach this milestone after Rohit Sharma (448 matches) and Dinesh Karthik (412 matches). While Kohli has crossed the 1000-run mark against four teams, David Warner has achieved this against KKR and PBKS, Rohit against KKR and DC, and Shikhar Dhawan against CSK.
With these records, Kohli once again cemented his place among the IPL greats, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
