Hailstorm damages banana crops in Kadapa, Anantapur

Farmers in distress as ready-to-harvest crops collapse

Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu directs officials to assess losses

Severe hailstorms and strong winds have caused extensive damage to crops in parts of Kadapa and Anantapur districts. Farmers, especially those cultivating bananas, have suffered heavy losses as orchards in Komanantala, Veligandla, Parnapalli, and Lingala villages of Pulivendula constituency collapsed due to the storm. The sudden weather change has left many farmers distressed, as their ready-to-harvest crops were destroyed.

State Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu responded immediately, directing horticulture department officials to assess the damage and provide necessary assistance to affected farmers. Holding a teleconference with officials, he instructed them to be available at the field level and ensure farmers receive the required support.

The Minister emphasized that proactive measures should be taken to minimize the impact on farmers and urged officials to act swiftly to assess the losses and implement relief measures.
