YCP MP Mithun Reddy Moves Supreme Court on Liquor Scam

CID files case over liquor scam during YCP rule

AP High Court denies anticipatory bail to Mithun Reddy

Supreme Court to hear his plea today; listed as case number 62

In connection with the alleged liquor scam that took place during the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh, party MP P.V. Mithun Reddy has moved the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail. The petition is scheduled for hearing today before a bench comprising Justice J.V. Parthiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan. The case has been listed as item number 62.

The Andhra Pradesh CID registered a case alleging large-scale irregularities in liquor procurement and distribution during the previous regime. While the FIR does not include Mithun Reddy’s name, he has been facing serious allegations linked to the scam, prompting him to file an anticipatory bail plea in the AP High Court.

However, the High Court dismissed the plea, stating that anticipatory bail cannot be granted when the petitioner’s name is not even mentioned in the FIR. The court questioned the basis of the petition and refused to entertain it, leading Mithun Reddy to approach the apex court.

The CID has reportedly named several individuals in the case and continues to investigate the financial transactions and alleged irregularities that occurred during the YCP’s tenure. With mounting political pressure and legal scrutiny, the case has gained statewide attention.

All eyes are now on the Supreme Court as it prepares to hear Mithun Reddy’s petition. The outcome of today’s hearing could have significant legal and political implications in the days to come.
