Strict action being taken against those involved in ganja cultivation and smuggling
Andhra Pradesh State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha held a key law and order review meeting with senior police officials from the Uttarandhra region on Wednesday. During the session, she highlighted the coalition government's firm stance on maintaining peace, enforcing law, and tackling illegal activities, particularly those linked to narcotics.
Addressing the media after the review, Anitha revealed that ganja worth ₹4 crore was seized in Srikakulam district alone within the last nine months. She said that numerous cases have been booked against individuals involved in the plantation, storage, and transportation of the banned substance.
The Home Minister appreciated the efforts of law enforcement agencies and emphasized that the government is deploying advanced surveillance tools, including drones, to monitor and curb ganja-related crimes. “Our aim is to eliminate narcotics from the roots. We’re actively tracking cultivation zones and transportation routes using drone technology,” she stated.
She assured that there would be no leniency towards drug-related offenses and reiterated that strict legal action would follow against those found guilty. Anitha mentioned that the government has invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act in several cases to ensure such criminals don’t escape the law.
The review also covered updates on crime prevention, public safety initiatives, and departmental readiness in the face of any unrest. Anitha encouraged officers to remain vigilant and proactive, especially in areas prone to drug smuggling and anti-social activities.
The Home Minister’s visit to Uttarandhra is part of a broader state-level initiative to reinforce law and order, uphold public safety, and ensure a zero-tolerance policy against crime, especially in sensitive and border regions.
