With just three days to go for the IPL 2025 season, cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the opening match between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens on March 22. Meanwhile, a look at IPL history from 2008 to 2024 reveals that Mumbai Indians (MI) have hit the most sixes in the tournament's history.
MI leads the chart with 1,681 sixes, followed closely by RCB with 1,649 sixes. Punjab Kings (PBKS) have hit 1,513, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and KKR follow with 1,508 and 1,492, respectively. Delhi Capitals (DC) have smashed 1,348 sixes, Rajasthan Royals (RR) 1,235, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) 1,038. Among the newer teams, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have 332, and Gujarat Titans (GT) have 270.
Among defunct franchises, Deccan Chargers (DC) recorded 400 sixes, Pune Warriors India (PWI) hit 196, Gujarat Lions 155, Rising Pune Super Giants (RPS) 157, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) 53. With the new season about to begin, teams will look to add to these numbers in their quest for IPL glory.
