KTR’s Claim on HCU Land is Baseless, Our Leader Fought for It - MP Raghunandan Rao
MP Raghunandan Rao questions why KCR gave away 134 acres of HCU land to TNGOs
Slams BRS for failing to protect 1785 acres by not constructing a compound wall in a decade
Asserts that it was BJP leadership that truly fought to save HCU lands
BJP leader and MP Raghunandan Rao came down heavily on BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for claiming that his party had saved the lands of Hyderabad Central University (HCU). Addressing the media, Raghunandan Rao dismissed KTR’s statements as “nonsense” and countered that it was the BJP, not BRS, which genuinely fought to protect the institution's land.
He raised pointed questions over the allocation of 134 acres of HCU land to TNGOs during the tenure of then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. “If they truly cared about the university, why did KCR hand over such a vast extent of land to others?” he asked.
Raghunandan Rao further questioned the inaction over the remaining lands. “Even setting aside the disputed 400 acres, what stopped the BRS government from constructing a compound wall around the 1,785 acres that are not under any legal contention?” he demanded.
Accusing BRS of neglect and mismanagement, he said their government had ten full years to safeguard university lands but failed to take even the most basic steps like fencing the campus, thereby allowing encroachments to flourish.
He credited the BJP’s leadership for consistently raising this issue and taking it up with the concerned authorities. “It is our leader who stood firm and fought for the students and for the institution’s rights,” he stated.
Raghunandan Rao concluded by asserting that such baseless claims by KTR are a desperate attempt to mislead the public ahead of elections, while the facts show that BRS allowed the problem to worsen during its rule.
