300 Services to Be Available via WhatsApp E-Governance by Month-End, Says Minister Nara Lokesh

WhatsApp e-governance already offers 200 services

Target set to expand to 300 services by March-end

Lokesh credits Yuvagalam Padayatra for understanding public issues

Minister for IT and Digital Services Nara Lokesh highlighted the success of the coalition government’s WhatsApp e-governance initiative, which has already enabled 200 public services through the messaging platform. He announced that by the end of March, this number will increase to 300 services, making it even easier for citizens to access government facilities.

Lokesh recalled that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh pioneered the transformation of public services into e-services to ensure efficient governance. He stated that his experience during the Yuvagalam Padayatra gave him firsthand insight into the challenges people face, which motivated him to introduce WhatsApp-based governance.

"In the past, people had to stand in long queues and depend on officials to avail government services. Now, we have decided to simplify the process through digital means. WhatsApp e-governance is a key step towards this transformation," Lokesh explained.

This initiative allows citizens to easily obtain certificates and avail various services directly through WhatsApp, ensuring transparency and efficiency in governance.
