Bengaluru defeats CSK in Chennai after 17 years

Captain Rajat Patidar shines with 51-run innings

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a historic win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai last night as part of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This marks RCB’s second consecutive victory this season and their first win in Chennai after a 17-year gap.

The last time RCB emerged victorious in Chennai was during the inaugural season of IPL under the leadership of Rahul Dravid. The recent win breaks a long-standing losing streak at Chepauk. RCB had previously secured their first win of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Batting first, RCB scored 196 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar played a pivotal role, scoring 51 runs off 32 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Contributions from Phil Salt (32), Virat Kohli (31), Devdutt Padikkal (27), and Tim David (22) helped RCB reach a challenging total. Among CSK bowlers, Noor Ahmed took 3 wickets, while Mathisha Pathirana claimed two.

Chasing a target of 197, CSK could only manage 146 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Josh Hazlewood impressed with 3 wickets, while Yash Dayal and Livingstone claimed two each. Rachin Ravindra top-scored for CSK with 41 runs, followed by MS Dhoni (30) and Ravindra Jadeja (25).

For his brilliant innings, Rajat Patidar received the 'Player of the Match' award. The IPL excitement continues with Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians facing off today.
