Former Manchester United Defender Phil Jones to Visit India for ‘Road to Old Trafford’ Final
Former Manchester United and England international defender Phil Jones is set to visit India on April 6 for the finals of the third edition of the 'Road to Old Trafford' five-a-side football tournament. The grand finale will take place in Chennai, following qualifying rounds in Pune and New Delhi.
Jones, a Premier League winner with Manchester United, made 219 appearances for the club and has also represented England in two FIFA World Cups. His visit marks a major highlight for Indian football enthusiasts.
In the initial stages of the tournament, 40 teams competed for six spots in the Chennai finals. The teams that qualified include Stilton Cafe (Delhi), Tajore Cafe (Delhi), BP Street (Noida) from New Delhi, along with Three Wise Monkey (Mumbai), Swig (Pune), and K-Bar (Goa) from Pune.
The victorious team in the Chennai final will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to Manchester, UK, where they will play at the iconic Old Trafford stadium. The global final to determine the ultimate winner will take place on June 6.
This year’s tournament has been open to amateur footballers, offering enthusiasts across India a chance to compete and potentially experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at Manchester United’s historic home ground.
