MI Skipper Hardik Pandya Fined for Slow Over-Rate Offence
Hardik Pandya fined Rs 12 lakhs for slow over-rate violation
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined Rs 12 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate during their IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday. This marks the first over-rate offence of the season for MI under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.
Mumbai Indians faced their second defeat of the season, losing by 36 runs to Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans, powered by Sai Sudharsan’s impressive 63 off 41 balls, posted a total of 196/8. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj excelled with the ball, each taking two wickets to restrict MI to 160/6 in 20 overs.
Hardik Pandya, who missed MI’s opener against CSK due to a suspension for a similar offence in IPL 2024, admitted that the team was lacking in both batting and bowling. “We were 15-20 runs short in both departments. Basic errors in the field cost us 20-25 runs, which is significant in a T20 game,” he said.
Mumbai Indians, currently placed ninth in the standings, will face defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
