Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams recently shared her awe of India’s beauty as seen from space. After returning to Earth following a mission that lasted nearly nine months, Sunita and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore held a press conference organized by NASA, where they spoke about their experiences.
Sunita described how every time they passed over the Himalayas, the sight of the snow-capped mountains left her in awe. She also mentioned how Wilmore captured the majestic views on his camera. In addition, she spoke about the coastal areas of Gujarat and Mumbai, noting that the fishermen’s boats along the coast were easily visible and served as a unique marker from space.
Expressing her desire to visit India soon, Sunita shared her wish to reconnect with her father’s birthplace and meet her relatives. She praised India as a great democratic nation that stands alongside successful space-faring countries. Sunita added that she takes great pride in her Indian roots and is eager to share her space journey with the people of India.
