High alert in Himachal Pradesh after intelligence warns of possible terror threat

Intelligence agencies warn of potential Pahalgam-style attacks in Himachal Pradesh

CM Sukhwinder Singh directs police to remain on high alert across the state

Security intensified in Chamba and Kangra districts following specific alerts

The Himachal Pradesh government has sounded a high alert across the state following an intelligence warning about possible terror activities similar to the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The alert specifically highlights Chamba and Kangra districts as areas of concern.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has instructed police forces to tighten security in all sensitive locations, particularly in regions bordering Jammu & Kashmir. He stressed the importance of maintaining round-the-clock vigilance and ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists visiting the state during the peak summer season.

The intelligence input suggests that terrorist groups might attempt to target peaceful hill regions in a bid to spread fear and destabilize local tourism. In response, additional security checkpoints have been set up, and patrolling has been intensified along key highways and in border villages.

Senior police officials have been directed to coordinate closely with central intelligence agencies and take immediate preventive action if any suspicious activity is detected. The administration has also appealed to the public to remain calm but alert, and to report any unusual movement or behavior to the nearest authorities.

With the upcoming pilgrimage season to Manimahesh and other religious sites, security around such destinations is also being reviewed. The state government has assured that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents and protect public safety.
