New Twist in Ramanaidu Studio Land Row: Suresh Babu Plans Real Estate Venture
Suresh Babu seeks layout approval for 15 acres of studio land
GVMC cleared layout change during Jagan’s rule in March 2023
Government issues notice to reclaim land allotted for studio project
A fresh controversy has erupted over the Ramanaidu Studio lands in Visakhapatnam, with allegations of misuse surfacing against Suresh Productions. Film producer and Managing Director of Suresh Productions, Daggubati Suresh Babu, has reportedly applied for conversion of lands allocated for the Ramanaidu Studio into a real estate venture.
As per reports, the land parcel in question lies in Madhurawada under Survey No. 397/P, and was part of a 30-acre stretch allocated for the establishment of Ramanaidu Studio. A government order was issued for the same, and the land was registered at a nominal rate of ₹5 lakh per acre back in 2009. However, it has now come to light that 15 acres out of the allotted land are being planned for the development of luxury villas, allegedly by Suresh Babu himself.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), under then Commissioner Raja Babu, reportedly granted layout permissions for the land conversion on March 2, 2023—when Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was the Chief Minister. This administrative approval has now come under scrutiny.
In a recent move, the state government has initiated steps to reclaim the land citing violation of allotment terms. Notices have already been served to Suresh Babu, seeking clarification on the intended use of the studio land.
This development has sparked political and public debate over the misuse of government-allotted land and the alleged facilitation of real estate ventures under the guise of film industry promotion.
