Four overground workers arrested in separate operations

Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba module in Bandipora district, arresting four overground workers (OGWs) linked to the terrorist organization. The arrests were made during two separate operations, with significant recoveries of weapons and ammunition.

The operations were carried out based on reliable intelligence, with the police, CRPF, and Rashtriya Rifles setting up special check posts in various areas of Bandipora. In the first operation, Mohammad Rafiq Khande and Mukhtar Ahmed Dar were arrested at a check post in Naidkhai Sumbal. Authorities recovered two Chinese hand grenades, a 7.62 mm magazine, and 30 rounds of ammunition from the suspects.

In the second operation, Rayees Ahmed Dar and Mohammad Shafi Dar were arrested at a check post in Sadunara Ajas, where more arms and ammunition were seized. The arrested OGWs confessed to planning attacks on security forces and non-locals in the surrounding areas of Ajas and Naidkhai Sumbal.

The police have registered separate cases under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) at Sumbal police station, and investigations are ongoing.
