During a press meet at Telangana Bhavan, BRS leader Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar accused Congress leader Revanth Reddy of misusing the Cyber Security Bureau for political vendetta against BRS supporters. He claimed that cases were being registered under the IT Act against those who merely retweeted or posted content critical of the government.
Dr. Praveen Kumar alleged that Revanth Reddy, as Home Minister, is exploiting the bureau meant for protecting people from digital frauds to target BRS on social media. He accused some officials of acting as Revanth's agents by filing baseless FIRs and questioned why similar scrutiny is not applied to Congress and BJP offices.
Highlighting that Telangana's Cyber Security Bureau was formed under KCR’s leadership in 2023 with a vision to protect citizens from cyber crimes, Dr. Praveen Kumar claimed Revanth Reddy is using it against BRS social media warriors instead.
He criticized the filing of multiple FIRs against party supporters like Gautam, Dilip Konatham, and Krishank despite the absence of obscene content in their posts. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of police action against Congress and BJP leaders accused of spreading abusive posts against BRS leaders.
Additionally, Dr. Praveen Kumar mentioned that police officers need not fear Revanth Reddy’s influence, assuring that BRS will encourage honest officers once it returns to power. BRSV President Gellu Srinivas Yadav, who was also present at the press meet, condemned MLC Balamoor Venkat's remarks against Kavitha, stating they were intended to please Revanth Reddy.
The BRS leaders demanded the immediate withdrawal of false cases against their social media supporters and called for accountability from the Cyber Security Bureau.
