Hat-trick Win for Delhi Capitals, CSK Falter at Home Ground

Delhi beat Chennai by 25 runs

CSK fail to chase 184 target

Delhi registers third straight win

Delhi Capitals secured a commanding 25-run victory over Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, notching their third consecutive win of the IPL 2025 season and climbing to the top of the points table. Despite playing on home ground, CSK failed to chase the 184-run target, finishing at 158 for 5 in 20 overs.

Chennai’s run chase was lackluster from the beginning. Openers Rachin Ravindra (3), Devon Conway (13), and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (5) fell cheaply, putting the team under early pressure. The middle-order, too, struggled to stabilize the innings, with Shivam Dubey contributing 18 and Ravindra Jadeja managing just 2 runs.

Though Vijay Shankar and MS Dhoni remained unbeaten with scores of 69 off 54 balls and 30 off 26 balls respectively, their inability to find boundaries at crucial moments cost CSK dearly. As the required run rate climbed, both batsmen appeared restrained, unable to launch the big hits the situation demanded. The crowd, hoping for a Dhoni special, left disappointed.

Delhi's bowling attack was disciplined and effective. Vipraj Nigam claimed 2 wickets, while Mitchell Starc, Mahesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket each, collectively stifling Chennai's momentum.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted a solid total of 183 for 6 in their 20 overs, setting up a challenging chase for the home side.

With this win, Delhi continues its unbeaten run in the tournament, while CSK now has just one win from four matches — a worrying trend for one of the most successful franchises in IPL history.
