The state government has decided to transfer all cases related to betting apps to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). The move comes amid rising concerns over online betting scams that have affected thousands of users.
Authorities have registered cases against 11 betting app promoters in Hyderabad, while in Cyberabad, cases have been filed against 25 celebrities, including popular actors, YouTubers, and social media influencers who allegedly promoted these platforms. Police had earlier taken action against several betting app companies operating in the state.
With the CID now leading the investigation, officials are expected to take strict action against those involved in promoting and running these illegal betting networks. Further developments in the probe are awaited.
