86 Maoists surrender under ‘Operation Cheyutha’ led by IG Chandrasekhar Reddy
Each surrendered Maoist receives ₹25,000 from the government
203 Maoists surrendered in recent times across the region
In a major breakthrough in the fight against extremism, 86 Maoists surrendered before the police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district as part of ‘Operation Cheyutha.’ The surrender took place in the presence of Multi Zone-1 IGP Chandrasekhar Reddy. Among the surrendered were Maoists from Bijapur and Sukma districts, including 20 women and 66 men.
Over the past four months, police efforts have led to the arrest of 66 Maoists and the surrender of 86 more. As part of the state’s rehabilitation policy, each surrendered Maoist was given a cheque of ₹25,000 by IGP Chandrasekhar Reddy. He called upon the remaining Maoists to abandon violence and take advantage of the rehabilitation and welfare schemes offered by the government.
IG Reddy emphasized the importance of reintegration into society and urged Maoists to return to normal life. The program was attended by Bhadradri Kothagudem District SP Rohit Raj, Mulugu District SP Shabarish, and other senior officers.
The Telangana police have been on high alert against Maoist activities, particularly those involving extortion and threats against innocent people. Special operations have been carried out to bring the extremists back into the mainstream and promote peace in tribal regions. Police noted that Maoist activity remains a hurdle to the development of these areas.
Thanks to intensified efforts by law enforcement, a total of 203 Maoists have surrendered in recent times, marking a significant milestone in restoring peace and development in the region.
