Supreme Court Grants Interim Relief to Mithun Reddy in Liquor Scam Case

Apex court orders that Mithun Reddy not be arrested until further orders
YCP MP seeks anticipatory bail in AP liquor scam case
Supreme Court issues notices to respondents for further hearing
YCP MP P.V. Mithun Reddy received temporary relief from the Supreme Court in connection with the AP liquor scam case. The apex court on Monday directed that Mithun Reddy should not be arrested until further orders are issued, granting him interim protection from arrest.
The case stems from serious allegations of a large-scale liquor scam that allegedly occurred during the previous YSRCP regime in Andhra Pradesh. Although Mithun Reddy’s name was not included in the FIR, the AP CID has been actively pursuing the case and linking key individuals to the alleged irregularities.
After the Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail petition on grounds that his name was not listed in the FIR, Mithun Reddy approached the Supreme Court seeking protection from arrest. The bench, comprising Justice J.V. Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan, took up the petition and passed interim orders preventing his arrest.
Along with granting interim relief, the Supreme Court also issued notices to the concerned respondents, seeking their reply on the matter. The case is expected to come up for further hearing in due course.
Mithun Reddy’s legal team argued that despite not being named in the FIR, there were attempts being made to implicate him in the case, which could lead to arrest without due process. The Supreme Court’s order is being seen as a crucial breather for the YCP leader as investigations continue.
