SC Orders Dr. Padmavati to Appear in RRR Custodial Torture Case
Supreme Court orders Dr. Padmavati's appearance for CID hearing
Interim protection to be revoked if she fails to appear
Next hearing set for April 15th
In a crucial development regarding the custodial torture case of Deputy Speaker Raghuramakrishna Raju, the Supreme Court has directed Dr. Padmavati to appear for a CID investigation. Dr. Padmavati, who faces allegations of providing a false medical report, has been ordered to meet with the investigating officer on April 7th and 8th at 10 am. The Court issued a stern warning that her interim protection would be revoked if she fails to cooperate with the investigation.
During the hearing, government lawyer Siddharth Luthra presented evidence of Dr. Padmavati’s lack of cooperation. This led to a key ruling from the bench, consisting of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice K. Viswanatham.
Previously, Padmavati had filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the AP High Court, which was rejected. She subsequently approached the Supreme Court, which granted her interim protection. However, her failure to attend the hearing led the government to seek the revocation of this protection. The next hearing of the case has been adjourned to April 15th.
